Join the Greater Boston Church of Spiritualism as we kick-off the summer with a cruise into Boston Harbor for a Sunday picnic on beautiful George’s Island and historic Fort Warren. Celebrate the success of another church year with us as we gather to enjoy the fellowship of our GBCS family! After the service, we will travel by carpool from Watertown to Boston, where we will meet and board the 1:30 ferry from Long Wharf to George’s Island. History of Georges Island: This 30-acre island is dominated by Fort Warren, a National Historic Landmark. Constructed of granite between 1833 and 1869, Fort Warren was used during the Civil War for training Union soldiers and later as a prison for captured Confederates. George's Island now serves as the entrance to the Boston Harbor Islands State Park and provides rest room facilities, running water and concession stand. George's is open to the public from May to mid-October. The island has large picnic areas, a snack bar and an information booth. To this day, within the fort's dark corridors, the legend lives on of "The Lady in Black," the ghost of a Confederate prisoner's wife who is said to have been sentenced to death for aiding in an escape and hanged in a black robe made from the Fort's mess hall drapes. Reservations Required: ** All fees must be received no later than 1pm, Sunday, June 15. Individuals will be contacted in the event of rain date rescheduling, but we will not be able to offer refunds for any cancelled or unused tickets. Reservations can be made with Andrew French. Mediums Days are when the church mediums are available for private readings with the public. Mediums Days are held on the fourth Saturday of the month - with the exception of August when it will be held on August 12. Mediumship Readings are $20 for 15 minutes. At each Mediums Day there is also hands on healing which is offered at no charge.
